Startling but true.
When you look at the price of weaves, relaxers and wigs you will understand where these numbers come from. If you look at the history of black hair in America this statistics takes on another meaning. Black hair is a social justice topic that is important just like any other topic dealing with self-love, self-worth and beauty issues.

ReplyDeleteHey Felicia! I imagine you've seen the documentary "Hair" that Chris Rock made for his daughter(s). It's all about how unnatural beauty standards are imposed upon black women in regards to their hair.

I have seen it. I actually wrote a final paper (about black hair) for a class and used "Good Hair" as a resource. Tyra Banks covers the topic pretty in depth too and she makes some great points. Thanks for sharing the wonderful documentary and thank you for checking out my blog!!
