Some of my favorite uses for Pinterest.com
My blog has moved to my website www.feliciafollum.com My artwork tends to focus on social issues. I combine drawing, watercolor, ink and graphic design to create socially conscious work that communicates with the audience. In addition to creating art my passion extends to a desire to use my work to help others. Two ways include teaching kids art and helping to raise awareness.

For those of you who have not seen or heard of Pinterest.com feel free to check out some of my boards. Once you are invited to join, you can begin pinning to your boards. It is similar to a coark board that you would pin notes to.
To pin an image, hit the "pin it" button that you have installed in your favorites bar. The image, with a link to the page, are stored on your pin board. You can have as many boards as you would like to help organize your pins.
Check out "My Art and Design" board |
In addition to my personal artwork,
I use boards for meal and party ideas as well as creative inspiration.

The ArtsVan
A short slideshow from my summer with the ArtsVan.
The ArtsVan travelled to various parks in and around Yakima, Washington, giving art lessons to kids. Art is something that has almost completely disappeared from the school in Yakima. Allied Arts also provides art lessons in the schools to help the kids get some exposure.
Some of the communities that we worked in are heavy with gang violence, poverty, and single parents. A goal of the van is to help these kids have a positive outlet as well as some positive role models, all while teaching them some basic skills (such as using scissors).
In the future, I would love to go back to Yakima and work with kids who are into gang tags and help them to put their efforts and talents into making artwork. I will post some of my ideas for projects in the near future.

I absolutely love photography (my photo bog) and being outdoors.
We took a trip back to Laramie for a wedding (see the wedding gift).
On the way back we drove through the Snowy Range and Medicine Bow National Forrest.
Here are some of my favorite photographs!
I hope the images can serve as inspiration for you as they do for me.

Native American Posters
In response to all of the drama back home in Rapid City, South Dakota (link to the most recent drama), I figured that I would post my tribute to the first Americans.
There are memorial services for the officers this week.
If you are in the area, please do show some support.
If you don't have any idea what is going on,
just pray for the community and those who have suffered loss.
See more information about these posters at FeliciaFollum.weebly.com
The links below the images link back to some previous posts about the individual posters.
The posters were in an art show back in April.

My Summer Art Goals (July)
My summer art goals. May accomplishments. June. July.
1. Complete work for my African American Black Beauty/Social Justice/Culture show. I would like to have some extra work and then narrow it down from there. Here is what I would like to create (I am not sure what will go in the show yet and these are just ideas )
a. 5 – 10 poster designs Yes...I think I have 6 or 7 for the show. Not all are good, but they are there. I also have a couple in response to Haiti. I think I will be able to use most of the ones I have created. I also don't think that I need to create more.
b. A black hair care line I have not really worked on this in the past month. I think I have a brand name and decent concept....woot (I was going to ditch this idea until last night)
c. Some (5 - 10, see below) ink and wash drawings or water color paintings – for a challenge. I am not sure that they will be included in the show. Well I accomplished this by the end of may. I have many, not a coherent body of work but I have been developing technique and practicing. I have more...Just a few from one series.
d. A t-shirt stencil or some type of graffiti art (maybe ink and wash). I created one design that could be used as a stencil. Thought I am not sure that I will. I have three designs that will work with the current direction I am heading.
e. C and d can be used in a poster design and will still count.
f. zines - I sketched out two zine ideas. One may be more book arts than zine style. Not sure.
2. Along with having all the work for the show, create promotional materials and press releases given out to the community on time. I know little about this, so it will be a learning process. This will be good to get going on here soon. I still need to get going on this : /
a. I would like to find a checklist of some sort and
b. actually use it.

Nothing beats some good art inspiration.
In between shifts working for the ArtsVan I have been camping in Yakima Canyon.
I love it.
The area is gorgeous and I get some good time to myself.

Ok, so they are not really graffiti tags but graffiti style ink drawings.
To see me in action check out my post about the great time I had at the City Church Bazaar.
